<<My point was that every belief system has structure and a certain amount of rigidity. Why is the belief system that involves no deity treated as inherently worthier?>>

The way I see it is the "liberal" view says everyone is his own person, you can believe what you want, don't hurt anyone.

The "belief system" says you are your own person, however I will try to get you to believe what I want and to act how I want you to act. For example I will post the ten commandments in the schools and you will act like a good christian. I really don't care that you are a hindu or muslim or atheist - you will read these commandments and obey them. And another thing we are going to have christian prayers lead by our teachers whether you like it or not. Cause we know you hindus and buddhists and atheists can't decide for yourselves.

I think this is the perception and why the "belief system" gets so much resistance. People usually don't complain about the "liberal" system because it says do what you want. Want to pray? go ahead. Want to read the bible? please do. You do not want to pray? ok that is your choice. How do you get resistance when everyone is doing what he wants to do?

I use the term liberal only because I could not think of a better term. But I think you get the idea.
