Jim:

The CTH chart looks good. It has made a nice run since re-testing the 13 1/2 area on Sept.9

The link you gave was for soybean meals. I have not been trading commodities for some time.

Good performance on ALSC today.

I agree that the market doesn't look good and amber lights are flashing all over. October is usually not a good month and the Y2K still looms ahead.

Regards and good luck.

Bernard

Divergences...
****************

It's always important to look for divergences when analyzing charts... While the S&P 500 was showing signs of a positive reversal the New Lows were heading in the other direction...

The Advance/Decline line and McClellan Summation Index are not joining the S&P 500 in its reversal...

Sustainable rallies need a little cooperation from these indicators... You could argue that the market went higher for the past 12 months while the A/D line didn't do the same... A closer look would show a handful of large cap stocks that pushed the market higher while the broader number of stocks were flat or declined... There is a limit to how much more these large caps can carry the markets on their own... Unless there is broader positive movement by the vast majority of stocks, a lot of money is going to find its way to the sidelines until it's safe to put it to use...
