DaveB,

Re: Anand

I've been hearing and reading about this guy being 16 for about 3 years already. Does he never age like the rest of us?

Re: Benchmarks

I'm not at all concerned about numbers that purport to show one thing or another.

How about comparisons of some real world uses ala the kind of thing Pat Gelsinger was showing the audience at IDF - audio mining, for example. I'd love to be able to search an audio file for specific references. Gelsinger called this an extremely computationally intensive task. This seems to me to be an incredibly useful tool for business. If pc's are going to soon have this capability, which it appears they are, then a competitive edge will go to those businesses that first adopt it's use. If this capability is enabled in the 3-4k CuMine/RMBS pc's that are on the near term horizon, they will be difficult to keep on the shelves.

Kash,

<Update on the Apex guy.

Apparently he got some more DRIVERS from Intel and said performance was MUCH better.>

Great. Thanks for following up.

<As far as Anand is concerned - this is a premier web-site that lots of folks check out - and the fact he is 16 years old is NOT a negative - he is simply that good.>

I didn't say he wasn't good. As I said, I found the three relevant paragraphs fairly balanced (it was your selection of snippets that I questioned <G>). I am worried about his apparent bias towards AMD/Cyrix and "worship" (read his backgrounder) of Tom Pabst. But I wouldn't even judge him on that -- just that it's a potential flag. I'll be interested to see his review.

Dave

Just scanning this thread for info on the Rambus - Intel benchmarks (like a lot of others). Does this post from the Yahoo thread (this poster has clue) add any info to the confusion (re down level drivers possibly being the problem, etc.)? Sorry if it has been posted.

Tony
