Harry - Re: 'Here are some excerpts of an interview with Kumar on technology from BW online. Any thoughts here regarding Intel?"

I think RECENT events in the DRAM pricing environment may CHANGE the current and future (3 to 9 months) trend of PC sales - making KUMAR's comments potentially out of date.

64 MegaBit DRAM prices have soared recently - from $4.50 last June to $14 yesterday and to $15 - $15.50 TODAY !

I was getting a quote on a PC purchase for a friend of mine - last Friday. The quote was good for ONE DAY - as the vendor said his DRAM supplier already notified him of a price increase on future orders (meaning THIS WEEK !).

Now, all this is good news for Micron in the short term. But this pricing is going to ADD $100 to the cost of a PC with 64 MegaBYTES of DRAM right away - and possibly MORE in the not too distant future.

This price increase may well dampen the enthusiasm for PC purchases over the next few months - which ultimately may HURT Intel.
