Hi Dan Duchardt; I found the comment, I have yet to read about a daytrader in Forbe's richest people in America. interesting.

I don't think I'd mind joining the Forbe's club, myself. So if you accidentally get in, could you send me your excess income?

That said, the problem with making a fortune daytrading is that even if you are very good (lucky), it will become harder and harder to get in and out of positions as your wealth increases.

In other words, daytrading doesn't scale nearly as well as owning a substantial percentage of MSFT. But that isn't an option for most of us now, anyway.

I appreciate the reply to my query, but I doubt if I will ever trade that quickly so I can benefit from a direct access broker. I am wading my way through the thread summary and picking up some pearls.

I just switched to Datek from Schwab and, at $10 a trade, I'm very happy.

My strategy now is to find the leaders in a new industry--such as internet gambling--and hold on for 3-5 years, trading a little on runups. Less exhilarating, less exhausting, less stressful, but probably more profitable.
