i understand that there is too much money in the market chasing too few stocks and any news is good news, but...

let's think this through.

who would want to buy this division? only somebody who wanted a quick in to cdma. ericson appears out based on their comments. nokia has already spent millions on a r&d facility. they seem out. motorola seems out. why? the q mints money selling their asics to qpe. guess what mot would do given their first chance? use mot asics. that would hurt the q's results badly with sequentially down eps, imho. siemens might buy it for an in to cdma.

imho, it is equally likely that the press release was designed to get new interested parties involved in negotiations and/or pressure current negotiators into bidding up by saying their are several interested parties (even if there really aren't!).

the number of folks seriously interested has to be few indeed.

i'm also not sure how failing in this business is a sign of great management as some have gushed lately.
