Also your method of investing should accomodate your personality. I'm kind of eccentric and am usually way early on stocks. So that's why I've adopted my longer term method and trying to sniff out promising new industries. Usually what happens with new industries is that most of the stock go up initially. I just find short term trading not very lucrative for all the effort one expends. Also I've not been overwhelmed at the efficacy of TA. Also I can only trade in between patients (I'm an ophthalmologist). So I don't really have the time. But, theoretically, it is FUN! And long term holding does not mean holding onto a dog. I'll still bail at support levels. The industry I'm sniffing out now is fuel cells. The CNBC evening show had a segment on that. Got to go watch my recorded tape.
