Not sure if you are responding directly to me or just the last in line here...

AOL has made deals with various Baby Bells to start offering DSL in certain states.(that is the old news). Steve Case HAS to be working on a more sweeping cable or DSL deal hot and heavy. I just think we need to sit tight for the major announcement. This request to authorize new shares could go many ways. And an acquistion deal could be one of them.

Patience...AOL has the ace...they are playing their cards close to the vest. Those of us still in the game will reap the rewards.

I am long, holding a profit, looking for a higher high (besides tea leaves)

Mary

pp, AOL doesn't need to expose their cards,
@Home and the cable dudes are struggling along,
trying to have 1 Million customers between them..
Wasting money,
Making mistakes,,
Meanwhile,,,
AOL keeps doing it's thing,
Growing revenues,,,
continued subscriber demand,,
new markets,,
what's the big deal....
It's simple.

Tell me what a "very attractive rate" is for DSL???
Mom and Pop local ISPs may be offering DSL, but Mom and Pop subscribers that use AOL for chat, etc. do NOT think it is affordable.

I think you will find the answers to your questions in this URL. Nobody posted it yet from Thurs.

When is AOL going to have a realistic high-speed access plan? A lot of second-tier ISPs, phone companies and CLECs are aggressively rolling out DSL. Why is AOL so quiet? Does Steve Case really believe 56k will keep AOL #1 forever? AT&T, PacBell, Flashnet.com as well as a lot of mom&pop local ISPs now offer DSL at very attractive rate.
