Looks like GIC sold out just in time for SNE to muck up their biz.

Since MRVC's new Red-C product affects the local loop, I will post the information here (I am long MRVC of course). Comments appreciated on the technology and it's impact on the Local Exchange.

An excerpt"

"The Red-C 16000 gives service providers (RBOCs, CLECs, ISPs, IXCs) the ability to "unbundle the copper loop" and release the Local Exchange stranglehold. Voice-over-DSL support offers unprecedented opportunities for CLECs looking to grow their business beyond Internet connectivity. In the traditional DSL Internet market the business model uses a fixed-based charging method, which has clear limitations. The Red-C Solution provides the intelligence to introduce usage-based billing by tracking users and their usage on a per-second basis. "In addition to service selection, the Red-C solution enables service providers to provision a range of value-added, high-margin IP-based services such as VPNs, firewall filtering and VoIP," said John Freeman, vice president of The Fearless Group, a high-tech industry analysis and consulting firm.

"However, perhaps even more compelling for service providers is Red-C's open architecture approach. This approach leverages third-party development/customization, allowing service providers to build a subscriber management system that fits their own, unique 'best practices' and creates differentiation for their broadband service offering."
