the HD cache usually does about 30meg per session wherein a week or so i am down to the low 300meg in c:drive. i first learnt this when i was trying to install the new video card. i had to shut the system down because it did not recognize the new drive and when i booted up again using the "onboard" screen drive the system did a scan and whollah...my memory was back to 540meg free space. since then i do a scan drive with norton but only recover to 400 something.
anyway, my system is a 1 year old micron millenium 350mh and it should still be adequate to handle 10 to 12 windows going at once with the new upgrades. or is it?
i usually have open 2 screens for brokers, interquote for streaming stock data, bigcharts, SI, company, companysleuth, i.i., and a few others. up until about 3 months ago my original configuration could handle all of these with no problem. (i was not running norton at that time). then suddenly the screens began to "garble" after being on for several hours and i had to close all the screeds in order to clear the ....confusion??....and reopen them but not so many. in time, windows, would let me open less and less and "garble" sooner.
therefore i did the memory and video card upgrade and i'm still at square one.
if i ever make some money in this endeavor i will buy the new apple G4 and be done with scumsoft forever. i hope!
thank you for your response.
