DigitalMe question.

How much will this technology do for me. As an e-commerce consumer I keep reading about this kind of stuff:

"PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept 15 (Reuters) - Vignette Corp <VIGN.O> and Edocs, two Internet companies that collect data from consumers online, Wednesday formed an alliance that will enable them to share the information they gather and build richer profiles on individual spending patterns.

The deal will join data on general consumer interests collected by Vignette, with specific information on their bills, from Epos, which makes Internet payment solutions so people can pay their bills online.

Epos, for example, might be able to build a list of consumers with high phone bills, while Vignette, which follows Web surfing patterns, would be able to see which individuals are shopping for cell phones. Combining these two sets of data could help cellphone companies more effectively market different products to consumers based on their individual habits.

Much of the information Vignette gathers comes from a software it makes to help consumers customize different Web sites so they can isolate the content that is of particular interest to them."

I don't really want all of these companies building these elaborate profiles of me, my family or my consumption, investing, spending patterns. How far can digitalme go in preventing this stuff. Can I keep this stuff in a vault and only release verification to those who do e-commerce for me. Can I have the vault-keeper tell them "yes, he(she)'s real and you can safely do business with him (her), but you do not really need to know more about him(her). So don't ask ss#, mother's maiden name, home address, kid's ages, etc. .... . If you fulfil an order, the vault will work with the shipper to get the product to the consumer, with the payment processor to get the $$ to the provider, and keep everyone out of each other's personal data/lives. I know data, once offered, lives forever, multiplies, gets traded/profiled/combined. How much do you think digitalme can prevent all of this profiling? TIA

Toy....

>>I think they have more to announce on this strategy regarding app hosting. This is an area in the services industry that I am EXTREMELY EXCITED about!!>>

BINGO!!!

I think the ASP market will absolutely EXPLODE!!!

Liberating expanded "services" in the form of apps, data and information from PCs, WANs, LANs and enterprises WILL be the catalyst for the MASSIVE, MASSIVE unbundling of power and control into the hands of individuals and new distribution/information networks which I "see" rapidly becoming a reality.

I liken it to a GIANT freight train of energy coming from individuals the world over who want what they want, when they want it, in the form they want it in......NOW!!! Not next week or next month or in the way companies "think" they need it.

We are entering the Era of The Individual in a Knowledge Century in which more and more people will be coming to the IP Services table and value-adding information and data - TRANSFORMING it in ways which add to the level of knowledge in the world.

The viral energy which will be released when more transformations take place which enable more knowledge will be absolutely incredibly AMAZING to experience.

SHIFTING OF CONTROL AND POWER....

VALUE-ADDING DATA & INFORMATION

ENABLING TRANSFORMATIONS....

CREATING MORE KNOWLEDGE....

RAISING THE ENERGY....

RAISING THE MEANING....

The Internet is finally at a crossroads where spirit and technology are intersecting.

Wait and watch.

Or dive right in a be part of this revolution.

In the meantime, be sure to buy MORE Novell.

Peace.

GO!!
