To any more technologically inclined than myself (which might be everyone on this board): This morning I watched 10 minutes of a webstreamed FREE movie using Microsoft Windows Media Player. There were a couple of dozen choices and I hate to admit that I chose a Raquel Welch feature. However, the viewing choices were 56Kmodem, DSL (100kbps), or T-1 (250kbps). I only have a 56K, but the quality wasn't that bad at all - far, far better than I have seen elsewhere. Audio was ALWAYS excellent. ------------------------------------------------------- Questions: 1. How much better would the viewing experience probably have been with a DSL or T-1 capability? 2. Could it be that AXC is making a stupendous strategic error by downplaying Ampex Data Systems/Micronet into only secondary subsidiaries at the TOTALLY wrong time? It strikes me that this type of movie/event video streaming will become huge - a great match for DST/Micronet digital image archive and retrieval equipment. I spent a lot of time reading page 24&25 of the latest 10-Q this morning. I believe an alliance or rethought marketing program should be considered for Ampex Data. Leverage AXC's reputation as the highest quality video storage equipment in existence. Enter agreements with IBM, Storage Technology Corp, Exabyte, Quantum, Sony, Loral, Datatape, Metrum,EMC, or Data General. My greatest fear now is that AXC is not going to utilize it's greatest asset that it took decades to build up. If I had a choice, I now think I might go with an aggressively expanding, alliance oriented Ampex Data Systems than iNEXTV (actually 50-50). I remember a trip to Philly were my college student nephew was watching a video streamed movie on a PC. I wasn't paying any attention as I was cooking, etc with the "grownups". I do recall his saying that he downloads all his video for PC viewing & rarely watches tv. To tell everyone the truth, this morning totally shocked me, especially if anyone here can tell me about any DSL or T-1 viewing improvements. Thank you in advance. expanding
