Thanks, Geoff. I guess there is a smelter in Thompson, which has been shut down. There's a news piece today on Reuters saying that INCO only has 5 years worth of ore left and need 60 mil CDN to go deeper. Inco says they can't get the money if they give the miners a raise.

The other side of the story is developing slowly, but you guys can check out the steelworkers at

The other really interesting issue is Y2K. Be it bogus or not, almost all corporations are stockpiling components in case production or transport gets screwed up. So nearby ni more expensive than 6 month ni. If you can sell all the ni you can make now for 3.20, but the price is expected to go down in 4 months, why take the strike now?
