Re: "By the way - do to this unstable behavior, many PC retailers/White Box manufacturers are refusing to sell Athlon systems."

Paul, I have heard this exact same story from other reliable sources!! AMD MUST solve this instability problem if they are to have any chance of survival.

Re:I suggest you call AMD directly to confirm the story.

Paul,

No need to call AMD as I don't doubt the validity of this story.

What I do question is the assumption that one crash can immediately be related to some kind of design or manufacturing problem with the Athlon. This assumption is nothing more then FUD.

Re: demoed an AThlon system...

If your story has any validity at all, Paul, the fact is that lots of things can go wrong with desktops that are hauled around to demos.

And Paul, did you know that it is possible to misconfigure a system such the it crashes due to software problems? Stay with me on this, but those of us who have actually used a PC have seen this occur! Many of us have seen Windows configuration problems more than once - but only after many years experience, of course!

If there were any legitimate stability problems with the Athlons, it would have been reported all over the place - peddle it somewhere else.
