The New New Qualcomm

>>> I want to see actual info on true-margins/sell-off-accretiveness <<<

Clark, marginmike, everyone:

By the time it's all in black and white the price will not be the same.

The company has been once again transformed. We are now looking at The New New Qualcomm:

1) Thornley clearly said EPS will be immediately accretive ex/ handsets.
2) Going forward, the story will be much more easier to explain to investors of all types (especially momentum and smooth-EPS seeking investors). The new spin will be: "IPR + Internet like growth" aka "Royalties + Internet like growth". No more tail (handset) wagging the dog (royalty, asic, and stock).
3) Going forward EPS growth will be smooth and predictable (just have to monitor worldwide subscriber growth and ASP of handsets).
4) ASIC will be business as usual (Q has the know-how).
5) With predictability, p/e expansion will follow (Will match similar stories; for example, VISX comes to mind, as well as certain IPR-centric fabless semis.)

IMO visibility of $5/sh with a p/e of 70 is not unreasonable for The New New Qualcomm in today's tech stock environment (as has been pointed out above, some analysts are already calling for it). And, IMO, $10/sh will not be far behind given CDMA's rapid roll out. By that time, perhaps HDR will be real.

Maybe we should rename this thread the New New Qualcomm. We had a very significant event this week. Value was unlocked. By the time it's all in black and white the price will not be the same.

Congratulations to everyone on this thread, especially you old timers. I wish I was here for the earlier party (holy war), but this party (post-Ericsson deal) is also very well run, very well run.

Cheers! Here is to The New New Qualcomm!
