Most people, like myself, are sheltered from some of the horrors of life. If we don't see it, it doesn't exist.

You're kidding... you don't know any adults that were teenage runaways, etc.? I know tons of them. In the 70s family relations seemed to be very strained. The funny thing is the ones I know came out here and went to work. In those cases I wonder what the parents were like.

Thanks Robert, that's very nice of you to say. I am glad most Americans know how to walk-the-talk and not just talk-the-talk. It bothers me to see people who have been blessed with so much, not giving more voluntary to the less fortunate. And I'm sure it's true of both sides of the aisle. But this one in particular set a poor example.

In 1997, Al Gore and his wife made $197,729 but donated only $353 to charity. The average American family (which only makes around $35,000) gave $696, and families making over $100,000 averaged $2,994 in donations.
