I know a guy who skippers a boat up there. The boat is owned by a couple of investors. It has some pretty sophisticated equipment on board. This high tech is really boosting catches, I think. Trot line fishing is illegal, hunting with lights is illegal, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch to make sophisticated sonar illegal.

I think the "official" libertarian position, that is, what the party would say, is there shouldn't be interference. The party platform writing committee is dominated by Randians, but there are other members who are agitating for a different approach. This includes addressing environmental degradation issues. They're still a minority, but things are changing.

Hi Dave,

Many libertarians are very concerned with the protection of our environment. If you are interested in the libertarian approach to environmental issues, you may want to check out the site of a libertarian organization which focuses on that area -- the Heartland Institute.
