This argument is odd coming from you in light of the fact that you were the one who pointed out to the thread that E. is an atheist. The fact that you did so leads to the inference that you thought her atheism was relevant to the consideration of her arguments on the subject at hand, abortion. Similarly, whether one is a Catholic or Orthodox Jew or secular humanist is likely to be relevant to one's consideration of the subject of abortion.

You may call it "amateur psychoanalysis," but I suggest that it's a time-honored way of understanding other people's arguments, and trying to meet them at a point which is mutually fruitful. Even if one continues to disagree, at least one understands the other's point of view. As the Romans asked, "cui bono?" Who stands to benefit from the argument? There is always an interest at stake.
