Intel Press Release,

Intel Spokeswoman on Effect of Taiwan Quake: Company Comment
quote.bloomberg.com

Hong Kong, Sept. 21 (Bloomberg) - The following is a comment from Annie Lau, a spokeswoman for Intel Corp. in Hong Kong, on the effect of the earthquake on Taiwan on its business. ``Taiwan is the worldwide design center for chips and motherboards,' she said. ``What our Taiwan office reported, the Intel office facilities are fine -- there is no damage whatever and no injured employees. The office is temporarily closed because of the power outage. The office will be up and running tomorrow and we will very quickly resume business. ``Because our Taiwan office is temporarily closed, we don't know yet what the impact of the earthquake is on customers and suppliers. We will be calling them tomorrow to find out if there is any impact on their business and resolve any problems. ``We don't say what percentage of our chips are made in Taiwan. ``We don't have any owned production facilities in Taiwan. Our manufacturing facilities are in Penang, the Philippines, and Shanghai. It's too early to tell if we will increase production in these places. We're still looking into this situation right now.'

Orion,

<The company said it will start an online service enabling PlayStation 2 owners to download digital versions of music, software and movies in 2001. Though details of the service are still to emerge, Miura said the idea has the potential to provide Sony with a good source of revenue.>

Wow!

i heard it does basic household computer functions and accesses the net too. oh ya, it is a killer game player too.
uses 32mb of rambus drdram and costs less than $400.
shoots lots of holes in "the high cost of rdram" argument.
