OK, Scott, you're really pushing my buttons now!
Granted, it's not up to native speed (yet), it's been my experience
that behind every "painfully slow" exhibition of Java lies a
"painfully poor" design....or lack thereof.
Slower than native? Yes.
Painfully slow? Take a look at the design.

BTW, we sure miss you around here....your criticisms, although sometimes stinging, were actually good for us....
