RE: <Looks like the Rambus launch is not going to go too well. No systems on sale on Monday. And super low volumes: Only 5% for Q4 99.>

But not to worry. On Monday Intel will announce a host of contrived benchmarks designed to somehow make Rambus look good. This thread will go wild. Best to keep your distance until the rioting is over.

Kash, <Looks like the Rambus launch is not going to go too well.>

Oh well. Perhaps this was what Zeev meant when he got out of Rambus in the short term. It's too late for me to bail for the short term, but I'll look to add on the dips.

<[Intel spokesman Francisco said] Ultimately, the market will decide the rate that transition takes place.>

Gee, wasn't some people complaining that Intel was forcing Rambus down the collective throats of the consumer and the OEM? Would've thought that Intel actually listens to the marketplace?

I'm still confident that Rambus will have a bright future ahead. DDR can't compare, except in cost.

And super low volumes: Only 5% for Q4 99.

that is not a change...that was the plan.

actually it is the high end of a 3-5% original plan.

seems the reporter is going all the way back to the first of the year, when camino was still supposed to roll-out in june, to get his 20% figure for q4 figure.
i like the way all the articles are now for the first time emphasizing the temporizing nature of sdram.

also says rambus gets 2-3% improvement in current business apps at current processor speeds.
that is the best we have heard....and it is enough to get the ball rolling. more demanding apps and higher processor speeds are only one month away.
