My understanding is that CGI has THE mandate for systems integration and outsourcing within the BCE family. And what does IFM really do in B2B? It oursources transaction processing which was traditionally performed internally by the client. Sounds like outsourcing to me, just under a different name. And CGI does B2B transactions already within the Interac network as one example.

Anyway, look at it from a client perspective. You are working with CGI in outsourcing and IFM in B2B transactions. When the two don't work together well (different management, internal competition between the two over client control, etc. etc. etc.), what will the client do? You got it, phone BCE. It will only take a couple of those calls to resolve that entire situation, IFM will come under the control of CGI.

Unlike you, I beleive it will happen sooner than later.

Ok The Coz, you have a point but let's put it in CGI perspective for a moment:
1) CGI always said that any acquisition have to increase their bottom line in $, in % and finally P/S.
2) CGI already realize 20% of 1.5MM$ in the e-comm witch represent 300M$
3) IFM are not profitable yet and their revenues are lower in the e-comm.

The only reason for CGI to buy out IFM would be by outsourcing their IT operations on a profitable bases. But in the same time, why the Father (BCE) would ask their big son (CGI) to take care of their youngers son (IFM) ? It would sound like a lack of confidence in the IFM management and in their self + I am not sure who the Business Community would react to that scenario ? One think is for sure, the CGI management looks stronger then the IFM management. These are my thoughts. What do you think about it ?

Au revoir
Jean-Robert
