AMERICA ONLINE (AOL: research, earnings): E*Offering initiated coverage of AMERICA ONLINE with a BUY rating. The brokerage said the value of the company's real estate as a source of distribution is increasing, and that nearly all of its commerce partners should renew at higher rates. It is one of the few profitable Internet companies and is expected to continue to capture nearly 50% of all new users who come online. It also noted that uncertainty over the company's cable modem strategy and the emergence of new Internet-access pricing models could continue the company's stock. The brokerage forecasts 2000 EPS of $0.60. The company's stock was trading at $84.56 early on September 20. In August, research about the company was accessed 800 times.
