Many thanks, Richard--and clearly, I mis-remembered the ore that is mined there. <g> I think the proximity of Silverton might have put that idea in my head, though the two towns are really not very close. Kind of you not to mention that. Ironic to see TR panning for gold...I didn't see a stream anywhere, though.

On my last visit to Cripple Creek/Victor, it was early July and big grey clouds hung overhead spitting out fluffy snowflakes. A vivid memory I have is of standing in the center of downtown Victor, and the only sound I heard was a barking dog.

A good place to get away from it all--but a satellite dish would come in handy!

Thanks for the word on the railroad tunnel..I knew that gambling would bring changes, and that certainly had to be one of them. Negotiating the tunnel was for me a slightly nervous affair, as it curves, and you never quite know if anybody is coming the other way. <g>

Did they enlarge the tunnel, or build a new road?

Hmm, AngloGold--they must see something that other people didn't.
