~OT~ rudedog and others: Here are some very interesting comments on MSFT and their President...

Message 11345377

I don't own MSFT anymore but many of my relatives do. I can't imagine Michael Dell ever making the kind of comments that Mr. Ballmer made today. They both are multi-billionaires and are very powerful figures in the technology world. Yet, IMO MSD seems to have better judgement than Mr. Ballmer. I remember a Forbes cover story on Ballmer -- he is a ruthless manager who will do whatever it takes to win. He may have chosen his words carefully BUT were they appropriate? Common sense is not always common practice. Just my views.

I enjoy reading your posts.

Best Regards,

Scott

Rudedog:

OT

You seem to have a reasonable take on what is going on here (at least one that I agree with, anyway, so it's reasonable to me!). I would be interested in hearing your opinion of what Ballmer was trying to accomplish.

Of course there is a great deal of over-reaction to the whole situation, but he did not just make this stuff up on the fly (and he did see his investment in MS go down $1B+ on paper). Any thoughts you are willing to share?

EDIT: I meant to add -- to you see anything here other than MS' standard expectations management game?
