Bill Gates has been known to say things like---there is uncertainty going forward(i think it was about Y2K) but maybe MSFT is in the best position of any tech company. He would basically make it seem that one has to worry about the whole tech sector. Don't remember which conference call in the last year he said this.
Ballmer's only fault is that he spoke a little too loud.

If this was the reason for the selloff, then the selloff was inevitable. I am glad we got some or all of it out of the way. Makes long term decisions investment decisions a little easier.

"[ballmer] has a legal obligation to keep his mouth shut."

To All: This is really a non event. MSFT in the persom of Ballmer and Gates have said this very same thing many times before. Mr. Ballmer wouldn't know whether the price of MSFT is too high or too low any more than AG would know. There is one who knows and that one is called the market. If Mr. Ballmer made this comment beecause he knows something material that has been released to the investing community then this indeed was an irresponsible comment and perhaps even ilegal. O n the other hand if he was opining as a private citizen then he should also be reminded that h has responsibilities that curtail his right to shoot off his mouth carelessly. It was at best a very immature and ill considered comment but it is not the first time that he and Gates have made such comments. They think it is sophisticated to say such things.
