Steve, I am not trying to put down your faith, but you are avoiding Robert's question. Put it this way, if sin is sin, would you rather have someone curse at your family, or try to do them grievous harm? Some actions are worse than others. If you don't believe that, tell me in your words why you think God wouldn't see murder or rape as worse than cursing? I'm not trying to "debate" you or anything like that. I just personally can't fathom how he couldn't see it that way........ Mark

Steve, you posted: Matthew 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? I wonder what the speck and the plank represent - could they be sins? Jesus wouldn't be speaking as if one's sin might be greater than another's sin (as a plank is larger than a speck of sawdust), would he? Maybe someone should have been there to straighten him out? Our human judgment about sin is our conscience. Where does it come from? Genesis says it comes from our ancestor's eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Without our conscience how would any of us recognize that we are sinners in the first place? I believe you have a good conscience and there's no reason you should denigrate it.
