Mr. Fun,
I was wondering if you know Kevin Petrie from TheSteet.com; I read a lot of his articles (networking) and I was just wondering what your opinion of him is.

Thanks,
Sup.

Fun,

I have always respected your opinion but this time you are wrong. ...as wrong as Bill.

First I said that the licensing agreement was for communications technologies only. Not all patents. I find it strange that someone of your caliber would attempt to put words in my mouth. Please re-read my post.

Second my statement stands. Russo blundered by using patents as a demonstration of LU's leadership in optics. I never contested LU's leadership - I made only one comment... Russo blundered when she used patents instead of perhaps one of the points you made as an indicator of LU's leadership. That is a blunder...especially if the patents that apply are cross licensed. The remainder of your post is some sort of rant to demonstrate LU's leadership in optics. That is not the issue for I at no point made any comment about CSCO or LU and their position in the optical space. fwiw you should investigate Cerent and Monterrey a little more closely I think you'll find some surprises that may render some statement you made as incorrect.

Finally, I find it quite amusing that you continue to finish each of your posts with "were long CSCO". I really enjoyed the time when you posted here telling everyone why LU was better positioned than CSCO to capitalize on the future build-out...then a week later stated that you were overweighting CSCO. With all due respect Fun-man, I'm losing respect.

OG

Fun, CSCO has Cerent and Monterey in the transport area. Moreover, CSCO has all those guys at Seqoya Capital just overlooking all those start ups developing new stuff. Is R&D farmed out.

MR Fun ---Your thoughts on how LU did this qtr ? You seem to have a good feeling about what the numbers and the business outlook for the company are going to be . Also is there any truth to the RBOC delaying spending the fall qtr due to the Y2K issue or is it just smoke ? Thanks for your feedback

BEST WISHES
BILL
