Dave, my first inclination after reading your post was to jump on it like a duck on a junebug. Then I realized that maybe you just didn't know the facts.

1-The US military IS NOT a major polluter. You could make a case for it in the pre-1960s, maybe, because of the open air nuke testing, but not since the early 70's. You may be confusing some of the reports you've heard about the former Warsaw Pact military cleanups, or some of the Department of Energy messes here, but those are not US military.

2-While I agree that "a love of nature" isn't anti-Libertarian, per se, environmentalism is, once it begins to regulate behavior and make demands on property owners for how they must use (or not use) their property.
