Ballmer is another great example of why it's so important to have a personality like Steve Jobs or LE running your company.

Do you think Fred A. or Phil S. at Apple would ever DARE open their big yaps about Apple's business without detailing every letter of the comment with Steve beforehand? Nah. Uh uh. Not a chance.

It was only a matter of time before that oafish blowhard Ballmer took one in the yarbles for a comment like this. I'm sure as hell not going to shed a tear for MSFT.

I wouldn't be too sure about the "plot" part. I've heard rumors of companies they are interested in, but valuation prevents their participation.

What amazes me is the amount of analyst support he got. He says this in private (which is fine...say it to analysts - that's his job) But to say it publicly in a fashion that can move markets? There is clearly more at work. He is a very savvy fellow not known for gaffes.
