Did you also say that no one would ever need more than a 25Mhz 386 processor? Or a 10M hard drive?

Would you say that the 10MB drive was a mistake, since it was quickly replaced by the 20MB? And likewise, they shouldn't have bothered making the 20MB, since it was soon to be replaced by the 40MB, and....

It's all about timing, hitting the technology sweet spot.

PC133 will last at least a year. A year is a LONG time. In 2001, who knows?

Whichever technology captures the high-performance PC segment first will probably be the technology that is the standard on all PCs in 3 years.

I don't see it that way. Rambus is very misunderstood. It's most appropriate for small memory, high bandwidth applications like 3D graphics cards and game machines. It's least appropriate for ultra-high-end computers. In the middle, it may or may not be useful depending on cost.
