The context of my Hugh Downs/Nimoy posts was the (apparent)
lack of Gen X/Y personalities to supplement them.
Re: Hugh Downs
The MAXIMUM FOCUS this great person will ever achieve occurred this past week. Ampex did not capitalize on this
maximum focus and ended the week just as it went in.
Has anyone on this board ever been a stock analyst? Do they
also consider effectiveness of PR (along with all the other
stuff) when considering a company?
BTW, I fully agree that the Hugh Downs name/personality can
be effectively used in Oct/Nov - but we blew the chance for
maximum impact on his TV VIEWING fans...........V
The lesser impact we will get in Oct/Nov will be with the
"internet ready" crowd - a much smaller group at this point.

The basic premise of Hugh's 20/20 work was "come along with
me to explore/learn about this or that". Whether it was his
knee operation or whatever. AXC could have utilized that
same theme to get non-internet types to come along with Hugh
beginning 10/27/99 to explore the world of video streamed
netcasting. (Who knows, his reassuring manner might make
the transition easier for those with trepidations about how
the internet works - I bet there was a lot of such people
watching last night).
