Has anyone on this board ever been a stock analyst? Do they also consider effectiveness of PR (along with all the other stuff) when considering a company?

I haven't been one, but I do have a friend who is one. In my discussions with him I came to the impression that in deciding what companies to cover the single most important factor is growth potential. In his case as an analyst fresh out of school he looked for a fast growing area with a lot of potential, and then looked at the specific players in that area. In choosing between the players, he looked at the perceived growth potential of the companies' specific segments, and at the vision of the head of the company. Financial performance and credibility were also be factors. PR and retail interest were not factors unless the company was extremely large.

He does not cover internet video stocks, so don't even ask.... However there are people out there covering this segment. The people covering ITVU should be identified and solicited. Bramson needs to convince them that he has a vision, and that his segment will grow rapidly, and most of all, that an investment in Ampex will be profitable.
