I have already come to the conclusion this company does not know what Coppermine is. They think the PIIIB coming out Monday is Coppermine. (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=11358178) The press release the above quote came from also says this - "GamePC has announced the first ever systems based on Intel?s Coppermine Pentium III-processors, running at 600 MHz." Connecting what the company thinks is Coppermine to what Chris Connolly said in the above quote, I am lead to believe that the PIIIB (or Coppermine in this company's incorrect view) is the processor Chris was talking about when he said that Coppermine has a "significant" performance advantage over the current PIII and Athlon. Now lets look at the benchmarks from Chris's Athlon review in which he compares the 600MHz Athlon against the 600MHz PIII. gamepc.com I'm only posting the first set of benchmarks. The other two are the same thing, except with different video cards. Athlon 600 Pentium III 600 % Athlon is faster G400 MAX 32MB 32-bit Tests 5.25 Driver Quake3 : Fastest 83.9 67.2 39.7% Quake3 : Normal 62.4 49.5 26% Quake3 : High Quality 50.8 45.0 12.8% Quake2 : Crusher.DM2 (640x480) 52.3 44.3 18% Quake2 : Crusher.DM2 (1024x786) 49.0 42.2 16% 3DMark 99 MAX 3DMarks 5492 5723 -4%! 3DMark 99 MAX CPU Marks 10683 9075 17.7% (Remember this company thinks the PIIIB is Coppermine.) Now, do you mean to tell me that a PIIIB will be from 13-40% faster than a normal PIII? And that would just be to match the Athlon. Add more % if his "significant" is to have any meaning. I think NOT. Therefore this guy is full of BS based on my assumption he thinks Coppermine is PIIIB. No credibility.
