Mark, The discussion going on is a good example of a Christian mixing law and grace. Of course, by law, a murder is a grievous act while seldom will one be punished by the law for lying unless on the witness stand.

Jesus is talking about spiritual sin of the heart and soul.
In other words, to want to murder someone is just as bad in God's sight as the act itself because you have spiritually murdered that person in your heart. That is why any sin, with God is considered sin, no matter what the act.

Once we are able to see that God is talking in a spiritual sense, than it is easy to understand what one is talking about.

Santiago

Mark,

My example wasn't to make a point of what was worse, as much as how you can't judge any sin on the surface.

To take it one step further, you only focus on the physical and NEVER look at the spiritual. And the spiritual is what is important. You look at the physical aspect of murder and not the spiritual aspect of lying.

Mark, your common sense and logic is worldly, and that's why you can't understand. I showed you what God says about the world.

I am sorry for your blindness. I will continue to pray for you.........

God Bless,
Steve
