Note this quote from a Rambus SEC filing on March 6, 1997. rambus.com "In addition, Rambus and Intel are currently working on the definition of another extension to the Rambus interface technology, scheduled for introduction in late 1998 and called "Direct Rambus" technology, for 64 Mbit generation RDRAMs, which will be further optimized for PC main memory applications." Looks like late 1999 now, best case. And they missed the entire 64MBit generation.
