Amazing that we were both bitching about tomatoes at nearly the same moment! I was responding to the message in my inbox and didn't even see yours until just now.

BTW, the definition of barbecue differs so wildly in this country, have you noticed? My personal favorites are the ones found in North Carolina; I have friends who bring "care packages" back for me.

Our parish priest at the 8:30 this morning was WAY out of line -- did not care for his tone one bit. The minute I got home, I e-mailed a brilliant Jesuit theologian who generously tries to help me untangle various notions.

Great tomatoes: the Eastern shore of Maryland. Also great corn (silver queen). But both are seasonal, of course....
