True dog,After my Dad retired he became a real WWII buff spending much of his time in local libraries reading on the subject. Were he alive today he would be agreeing with your contention that the Pearl harbor attack was indeed provoked. This is not to say that stopping this menace was not a worthy mission .Nor that an attack would not have come in time. But for Japan to attack a major power at the time might not have been too wise [indeed ]. The thinking of those who support this view is that the US government needed something to gain the support of the American people for entering the war.
