You are right, the NOVL announcement didn't mention an equity investment, but does that mean NOVL *won't* invest in Akamai? I have no idea, but have NOVL and MSFT ever put seed money in the same private company? I'm curious about these dynamics =;-) Nonetheless I would think NOVL management sees the same thing in Akamai's value that MSFT does. Otherwise either my understanding of Eric Schmidt and his team's vision is incorrect, or they have other private companies (priorities) on their venture investment list.
