Heres another source reporting Sprint deal imminent. JDN

New York, Sept. 28 (Bloomberg) -- MCI Worldcom Inc. will likely announce the purchase of Sprint Corp. early next week, probably Monday, after resolving remaining issues such as the price and how to combine the two management teams, USA Today reported, citing unnamed people close to the talks. MCI is discussing a transaction in which it would buy Sprint's phone operations and keep Sprint's wireless unit as a tracking stock, the newspaper said. MCI's chief executive officer Bernie Ebbers would take control of the company, while Sprint chief executive William Esrey would likely leave the company, uninterested in a secondary role, USA Today said.
