It showed surprising strength today. It bother's me though that news services such as newsalert give out inaccurate data such as the float, market cap being 1/2 what it actually is. Wonder how many investors think the market cap is only $10 billion?

t2 - JDSU traditional customers for both their source lasers and Lithium Niobate ex mods are Ciena, Lucent (although they have major r&d ongoing for their own tunables), Siemens, Alacatel, Harmonic and many others. As far as impact is concerned, JDSU already has major mkt share (I believe 40-70%) in both categories, so in their traditional long-haul mkts, it may simply enable them to preserve and expand the product roadmap for their customers. But its a huge replacement mkt and a pretty good 'sparing' (inventory in case a fixed source goes down) mkt. However, a major new use of tunable lasers is in the metro mkt. Now you may not need the external modulator in short-haul, add/drop situations, but the tunable laser becomes a huge advantage as you no longer have to fix the add/drop wavelengths to be dropped or added before deployment. Dynamic add/dropping is a major advance. Also major uses for optical cross connects in the future. Bulldozer
