Thouroughly checked this out today.

Answer: Absolutely not.

Impact of i820 delay to the Coppermine ramp?: None, as far as ramping the product at the target speed bins and at previously committed volumes.

Infrastructure/ MB's?: There are apparently options, although clearly not as optimal as i820 for extremely high end. However, no change in forecast for volume shipments indicated, and no change in MHz at introduction.

IMHO, puts the ball squarely in Intel Marketing's court.

In my experience, the typical guard band on these processors is 5% to 10%. The higher number would be for a newer less characterized processor at the shortest end of the channel length distribution.(fastest part) This guard band is to guarantee stated performance over the life of the processor.
So, for instance, an Athlon shipped as a 650MHz part would have to have a raw Fmax of at least 709MHz given a 9% guard band. However a part with a raw Fmax of say 760MHz could not be shipped as a 700MHz part if the guard band at 700MHz is 10%. If the guard band is not kept in mind, it is easy to come up with optimistic conclusions. Obviously the lower % guard band the better. I don't know what AMD requires but would expect it is somewhere between 5% and 10%. Hope this helps.
