We have yet to see if this hastened collapse of the USSR system was a good thing or a bad thing. Time will tell. It would have collapsed on its own (all systems do eventually anyway) and I said so BEFORE Reagan ever came to office. Of course no one listens to me. And at that time I thought the longer they have until collapse the better. It happened TOO fast- everyone was unprepared, and it could end very badly indeed. We may find ourselves long nostalgically for the "Evil Empire" I know many Russians do. Reality is bounded- to some extent- by externals. I know you don't like that MR: "I'm going to colonize space so I don't have to worry about pollution or overpopulation or anything else" yada yada yada. I sure wish bullshit was worth something- cause I could mine this thread and make a fortune.
