I'm sorry to say that we had to put Winston to sleep this morning. Very rough. He sure was a great friend...frisbee dog, diving dog, fetching dog, fetching some more dog, keep fetching til he drove you crazy dog. It feels like there is a huge hole in my heart where his spirit once resided. Even though he was miserable as of late I can't help, in my selfishness, wish that I could have 5 more minutes with him to play frisbee or go swimming.
Good and loyal dogs, just like Grandparents, are always on your side no matter what else the world has in mind. All they want is your love. They can't be replaced no matter how much one might try...the folks or group or team in your corner are now one less.

In every guy's life there is that one special dog. Sure, we'll have lots of dogs in a lifetime..but there is one who touches you in a special way that can never be with another. Maybe it's timing...maybe it's luck..I don't know. We have a sweet yellow Lab named Lami, but she's not Winston. Winston was my special dog. I will never be able to give myself to another like I did with him.
