When I said influential, I was only referring to the specific pro-life position. I have no doubt whatsoever Beatty is influential in Hollywood as is Michael Douglas and Jack Nicholson and a whole host of others. I'm just saying that for these guys to stand up now that they are older men and say something like "yeah I did it, but I was wrong, now don't any of you do it"... is a pretty weak message, and thats all they can really say isn't it?

You also draw the faulty conclusion that someone who may in some way have been responsible for abortions is not a valid spokesperson for the reverse position. Quite the contrary. The very best spokespersons are those who were once advocates of the opposite view. It gives that person's opinion more weight since it's obviously been altered in a profound way.

I don't believe it is faulty at all. But I guess there is no way to tell. And I think the "profound way" these opinions have been altered pretty much comes down to age.

Oh, and by the way, how could Beattie be responsible for the alleged abortions, isn't it the woman's choice?

Well gee, BP you might have a point here EXCEPT Beatty is one guy where women have repeatedly claimed he lied to them, had two affairs at once, all kinds of sneaky stuff... Julie Christie was one who wrote something about this... so in this case you have a guy who deliberately used a lot of women... of course they set themselves up for it but once a guy starts lying about his intent then responsibility starts to blur a little don't you think? What about Diane Keaton, he was supposed to marry her wasn't he? (I don't know, I'm just asking)
