Heard that ATHM is up after hours on this news. It appears to be in our favor.

I agree with you that T was just saying sure they think about stuff all the time and they will let you know officially if there is ever anything to report. Duh! At least that hopefully shuts up the fly-by-night-would-be-news-reporters who need a rumor a day to sell their rags. Or maybe not! I see CNBC likes to add its 2 cents to the rumor mill these days as well. That's why they call it noise.

Ed, I agree that this is a confusing issue ie. the selling of XCIT/ATHM or just XCIT! Based on Ts prior feelings in regards to content, they seem to be willing to disassociate themselves with XCIT!

Now keep in mind that T has 56% voting shares of ATHM. I've been wondering where they were when the vote to acquire XCIT was taken!

I cannot see T unloading ATHM only to acquire UMG! This, to me doesn't make any sense.

I must admit though, the past couple of days has been interesting! I also agree with Ron Dior <<<<AOL needs Excite like they need a hole in the head. There is something missing to this rumor/story! Bottom line...>>>>

May there be another suitor????

Great to see you posting again my friend!

Kevin

educator...an opinion, albeit absurd...

rare for a company to admit to exploring options...in fact such an admission potentially will cause stock price to increase on speculation, which in itself could upset a deal on market value. excite@home in an unusual position, a publicly owned company, that for the most part is under the thumb of a sizable and better capitalized shareholder. as an absurd thought, what would be the ramifications of aol making a tender offer for the remaining shares of athm, and in effect making it a wholly own subsidiary of an att/aol joint venture? ...just a bizarre thought, in what appears to be a developing saga.....
