The bigger issues include the necessities. India has tackled the biggest issue of all: removing hunger through ample food production; it is now self-sufficient and is even exporting food and medicine thanks to Indian agriculturists and scientists. The other issues I had listed are obviously necessary to step up further improvement on necessities.

You said that "bigger" issues have to be tackled first. Then you went on to list nuclear bombs, the war in Kargil and so forth.

There is nothing wrong with that statement. Let us assume for a moment that India is like US, but lacks a good defense. The first thing that will happen is that India will be subjugated again by somebody with a superior force. It is better to be poor and live free than be rich and subjugated.. Have U heard the expression LIVE FREE OR DIE.

India paid the price in the past from lack of good defense -- Mughal invasion, European rule. You think after all this we are going to give up ATOMIC BOMB and enjoy the luxury of sitting on a toilet seat. Forget it. I don't want toilet seat, but I want the ability to beat the day lights out of my enemy. That is what India is all about now.
