What wrong with oil and services? They have had a good run since Jan. In the Ferret Game, you look for companies that are solid but very cheap. HAL was cheap at $29. XON, RD and select producers like Anadarko were cheap. With oil and gas prices almost doubled, they are in line for making great profits.

As to Ford, I'll invest in a company who has $125 billion is sales and $10 billion in profits per year anyday, GE is only slightly better. Even the New Paradigmer's keep saying that its about profits and revenues. Hell, I'd take Ford private long before I'd take any of the high P/E companies. It wouldn't take very long to pay off the loans to do it, where as a Microsoft would. Last I looked, almost every home has a car or two and they keep buying them. This is a classic undervalued stock versus the rest of the markets obscene valuations.

Also it really depends as to where you are in the investment cycle. For me, I've achieved the goals set long ago and these companies fit into the growth and income portion of my portfolio. The government starts reporting deficets again, what do you think the markets reaction will be? Inflation starts to rare it's ugly head, what will happen to the high P/E stocks? Their fall is going to further than a Ford, plus they have no dividend.
