Evolution is simply the selection of traits in living things that tend to the survival of creatures with those traits. It is a function of logic and reality. Furthermore, please do not misunderstand my point. I believe in the Judeo-Christian ethic. I am a nominal Presbyterian myself. I simply don't see any conflict in the assumptions of morality and evolution. Some see evolution as saying that we are not one step below angels, we are one step above Koko the gorilla. I see no contradiction in this. Our brains have been selected for in the same way that slugs are. If you wish to believe that God has endowed humans with a soul then fine. Your objections to evolution in this respect are not unique. Does Koko the talking gorilla have a soul? She has the intelligence of a four year old human. What qualifies a being for a soul? There will always be these questions, whether we teach evolution or not.
Furthermore, your statement that there is no evidence for evolution is simply wrong. Australopithicus, Archeopteryx, Eustroedon are well documented transitional fossils. Human fossils show a clear progression of one species to another. Scientists often have difficulty figuring out where one protohuman species begins and another ends. Evolution can be objected to on theological grounds, but it is scientifically sound.
