Good morning, Robert. It is good to see you posting again. I just felt the desire to quote the Bible in view of all of the differing opinions found here.

He is indeed able...............

"7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 11Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12For the which cause I also suffer these things:((((nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.)))))))))) 2 Timothy 1:

He has truly already won the war against satan and death so that it no longer has a hold on us who believe in Him.
To know within our heart when we read, "O death where is thy victory;
O grave, where is thy sting."

God bless you and yours this day.

Santiago

Robert,

It is too easy to just say that people are unable to love unconditionally, that they must have some agenda or selfishness at their core just because that is the only way to rationalize doctrine.

There are mothers all over the world who have pure unadulterated unconditional love for their children. There are people who donate organs for family members at the risk of their own demise, because they love and for no other reason. People have risked their lives at a moments without thinking in a split second because they were motivated solely by love.

Other people have given of themselves so completely for strangers that their motivations are beyond repute. Mahatma Ghandi and Mother Thearesa are examples of that.

It takes away from argument to just casually dismiss this aspect of humanity, because it is so plainly true, that denying it renders the rest of your argument suspect.

The next time your hear of a parent who has a life threatening operation in order to a donate an organ to their young child, ask yourself what underlying selfish motivation they displaying. I think the answer is that you are seeing true unconditional love in action.

Mark

I'm not descended from Adam, so I'm free of original sin. I'm evolved from Apes.
